Summary: Femoral neuropathy is a recognised though rare sequelae of the lithotomy position and clinicians should be aware of this complication during pelvic floor surgery, the nature of which requires adequate flexion and abduction of the legs to access the pelvis. The importance of safe patient positioning should be highlighted as an area of surgical responsibility, in order to reduce patient morbidity and medicolegal implications.
